FAQs

Why pay a lawyer to check my contract?

If you sign a contract you’re bound to it –  even if you don’t understand it, so it is essential to get a lawyer to check it first.  Once you understand what the contract says and your risk exposure, you can then decide to negotiate or otherwise plan to manage any risks. Our experienced lawyers can also tell you what is missing from your contract which is not always obvious.

How much will it cost?

Our contract reviews start at $499 + GST.  You can work out the exact price instantly – just tell us what you need here.

Why is this legal service so affordable and fast compared to others?

Our clients told us they don’t want to pay thousands of dollars for a line-by-line reiteration of a contract.

WE LISTENED.

Our reports contain a meaningful summary highlighting any red flags, unusual terms and spotting gaps, and we don’t waste time explaining inconsequential or obvious terms to you.  We also specialise exclusively in contract law which means we can review contracts more efficiently than a lawyer in a typical multi-practice firm.

Who will see my contract?

Only you and your lawyer.  Your contract will be reviewed by a commercially trained Australian lawyer.   That means that you’re protected by the same laws as the ones that apply if you’d walked into a regular brick-and-mortar law firm.  We take your privacy and confidentiality very seriously.  Read about our Privacy Policy.

Is it safe to upload my contract?

Your individual client portal is a fully encrypted, safe space which is regularly tested for security vulnerabilities by an independent security firm.   Although we have measures in place, it’s still important to take security precautions at your end too.  We recommend:

  • Use full disk encryption on all computers
  • Create strong passwords and don’t write them down
  • Back up daily
  • Keep anti-virus software current
  • Maintain a firewall
  • Use anti-malware protection
  • Use a popup blocker (we recommend using Firefox with security add-ons)
  • Secure your wireless and never access your portal from a hotspot
  • Remove metadata before transmitting documents

How will you communicate with me?

We will post messages to you in your client portal space and upload documents for you to download and read or print at your end.

Email is unencrypted and so it is not a secure method of transmitting your confidential information.  We only use email to let you know there are messages or documents waiting for you in your portal.

I’ve changed my mind. Can I cancel my order?

If we haven’t started reviewing your contract yet, we won’t mind cancelling your order.  Please call us immediately if you wish to cancel.

What kind of contracts do you review?

What is a virtual law firm?

“A virtual law firm is a law practice online through a secure portal, accessible to both the client and the lawyer.”  – Stephanie Kimbro, Virtual Law Practice: How to Deliver Legal Services Online.

Unlike many firms that claim to be online, Bealla Legal really is! Every part of our business, from communicating through a secure portal only, down to payments, is done online.
